Big Movies features DVDs released by 80 different studios (at the time of my visit). There are some bigger names in that list, like Anarchy Studios, but also lots of mid-tier production houses. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the big studios have big names for something. The hardcore action here is varied and delivers, but isn't all that unique at times.

You do get a huge dose of pornstar talent, though. The list is long (3,510 according to the site's stats) and stars babes such as Ice La Fox, Sara Jay, Jenna Haze, Annette Schwartz, Penny Flame and Veronique Vega. Missing are some of the really famous beauties that are tearing across the industry in 2010.

The action falls into 53 different categories. There are all the major hardcore sex categories, like anal, threesomes, MILF, tit fucking, double penetration, POV and handjobs. There are also some fetish categories like Hairy, Hentai, Tranny, BBW and Femdom.

Tech Talk

There were no high definition downloads or streams here, though the tour pages of the site (and its logo) say otherwise. What you do get is access to a streaming Flash video embedded in the browser with 3 quality settings (the HD setting is not HD). The Flash videos stream at 768x432 pixel resolutions.

As for downloads, you'll have two formats: Windows Media and MP4s. Each has different sized/quality options.

The MP4s come in the following settings: DVD (640x480 @ 2.5 mbits/s); High (640x480 @ 1.4 mbits/s); and Med (640x480 @ 800 kbits/s).

The WMVs come in the following settings: DVD (640x480 @ 3.1 mbits/s) and Med (640x480 @ 2.1 mbits/s).

All downloads and streams are full-length options, there are no clips. There are no photograph galleries.

Small Talk and Personal Opinion

I was pretty disappointed that the site didn't have high definition options, which would have been the biggest selling point, since without it this DVD porn archive doesn't have much to differentiate itself from the dozens of others out there. In truth it doesn't carry many of the big titles or many of the big pornstars either, another reason why no HD hurts the site's potential score.

While you aren't getting the top shelf releases, don't think for a second that this porn isn't any good. It is, and there is a lot of it. The tour was misleading in this regard, but in a good way. It promised over 7,100 scenes to download, when in actuality there were 15,100 of them at the time of my visit. The site is clearly striving for quantity. Though the movies aren't HD they are still a good quality, too.

Still, I can't help feeling like this large, non-exclusive collection of porn has been scene a million times before. I found myself skimming through a lot of results and landing on the occasional DVD that really wow'ed me or grabbed my attention.
